Ugh. Snow.

Ahhh... look at this beautiful picture Chad took a few years ago from his building.  You can see the Capitol in the background, as well as some of the campus buildings and one of the lakes.  So pretty.  So clear.  So WARM.

Flash forward to today...

Where is the Capitol?!  Nasty snow.  And I don't just say it's nasty cause I'm tired of it.  But it's the kind of snow that even a 4wd (which we got for this very day) will slip all over the road in.  It was kind of scary.  But we made it.

The baby IS alive

I forgot how hard it is to go weeks and weeks without an OB apt. when you're first pregnant.  Now that I'm not feeling sick anymore, I've been focusing a bit more on the baby part of being pregnant... not just the way I feel.  Before a few days ago, I hadn't felt the baby at all and started to get a little nervous that maybe something had happened to the baby.  I know this is a normal thought and probably all moms go through it.  But I was anxiously awaiting my OB apt. today so I could hear the heartbeat again.  Luckily, I noticed some odd feelings down in my tummy a few days ago and knew it was the baby.  That was a good sign.  And from what I heard at my appointment today, things are going well.

Only two and a half weeks til we find out the sex!!

Four years ago today...

For those of you who have known or been married to your spouse for 7-10 years, this won't seems like a big deal.  But today is a special day for me and Chad.  We met 4 years ago today.  It was a Valentine's singles dance in Richmond.  Chad and his buddies came down from UVA (an hour+ away).  He got my number after we danced and chatted a little.  A few nights later, we went on our first date.  Here's a picture from that night.

Can you tell that Chad added the caption?!

We both agree that it seems like a lot longer than 4 years.  Not in a bad way, though.  We feel like we've known each other so long.  All of our quirks and idiosyncrasies.  Our likes and dislikes.  What buttons to push!  The fact that we met, got married, have lived in Madison for 3 1/2 years, we have a 21-month-old and a baby due in about 5 months... all in 4 years.  It's crazy what happens in that amount of time.  But I wouldn't change it for the world.  I love you, Chad.

The weather was a bit warmer than usual yesterday.  Cameron and I took a walk outside.  It was super windy, though, so we didn't stay out too long.

Cameron videos

My sister, Katie, put some videos of Cameron on her blog.  Check them out here.  There are a few that were just posted and then there's one of Cameron dancing toward the bottom of the first page.  She took so much time to upload these that I thought we could all watch them.  Plus, I'm too lazy to sit and wait for a video to upload.  Good thing she's not lazy!

Watch Cameron's expression on the first video when I say, "1-2-3, say 'Momma.'"  Pretty funny.

Thanks for doing this, Kate!

Boys will be boys

What do you do on a Saturday in Wisconsin when the high is 48?  Wash your car, of course!  Hello, it's like summer!  It was getting pretty nasty with all the dirt and rock salt everywhere.  So we ventured outside.  Cameron was pretty intrigued with what Chad was doing... until he found a cool puddle!

But, all good things must come to an end.  There's still snow on the ground and Cameron tripped and fell into some... on his face.  Ouch.

Everything's better when you're inside and in warm clothes.  Oh, and have your Lion to hold on to!

He did get a few scrapes on his forehead and cheek, but I think he'll live.

As far as our family goes, we're doing well.  My stomach has been bugging me the past couple of days.  This is weird to me since I'm over 16 weeks, but who knows.  Seems weird to feel gross this far along if I'm having a boy...  I'm secretly hoping for a girl.  Guess it's not a secret anymore.  It'll probably still be a boy, but we won't know until March 9th.  Chad's working hard on the class he TA's and his dissertation topic, as well as applying for jobs elsewhere.  We're going to see what happens on that front and we'll let you know.  Cameron is having fun running around getting ready for spring!  And so am I!

Something totally gross for your reading pleasure...

I put Cameron down for a nap around 12:15 or so and decided to lay down myself.  I haven't done this in a long time... actually laid down and closed my eyes, etc.  I don't think I slept.  Anyway, I was down for an hour and thought I heard Cameron.  So I got up and went to get him.  *Sidenote, Cameron is wearing a t-shirt today instead of a onesie.* Cameron held out his hands to me and there is poop ALL OVER THEM!  He had pooped and stuck his hands in his diaper and rubbed them all over his crib, some on the blanket, all over lion (his little blankie thing), etc.  So, I grabbed him and took him straight to the bathroom.  He was a little freaked out that I started a bath in the middle of the day and started crying.  I just explained that poop is really yucky and we don't touch it.  Since it was on lion, and on the part of lion that he holds near his face when he sucks his thumb (I almost vomited just thinking about this), I decided he should brush is teeth!

Now I'm doing a bunch of laundry.  I'm sure every mom has a story like this.  Cameron's done some pretty gross stuff, but this one was probably the worst (so far!).  I'm just glad my stomach isn't nearly as queasy as it was weeks ago!!

Pics. Finally!!

Well, I've finally taken a moment to upload some pics.    I have a ton of pictures that I took over Christmas, but blogger is being really slow today, so I might post more of them later.  We'll see.

The last few days haven't been too cold here.  Today, however, felt awfully cold to me.  It's been pretty windy.  I think I heard this morning that with the wind chill, it felt like it was 8.  Not too bad considering that tomorrow's high is around there.

This is the side of our backyard.  There's a picnic table under all of that snow!

Our neighbor's car... he hasn't driven it in a while!

Our lovely car.  I wasn't sure if I should put this on here.  Chad really wanted to clean it the other day, but it was too cold.  Chad's either busy when the weather is nice or it's too cold when he's free.  So, it'll just have to wait, I guess.  Makes it look rugged, I think.

Down the street to the right

And to the left.  Like the trash and recycle cans?  I picked a good day to take pics!

And, one of my favorite things to hang on our front door...

Cameron was pretty busy while we were in VA.  Here are some of the things he did:

Hung out with Grandma and Grandpa

Played with one of his favorite pals, Aunt Katie

Tried to look dapper in his stash at Grammy and Grandpa's

Hung out with dad, Aunt Shanan, Uncle Clay, and cousins

Took a bath with cousin Madison

Announced to the world that he'll be a big brother

Played at the playplace at the Short Pump Mall... he's sitting on a water pump.  And it's short.

Sometimes didn't want to listen

And dressed very festive while grocery shopping (in grandma's pantry)
