He's Here!

I don't want to bore you with all the details, but since I left my last entry kind of in the air, I figured I should at least write a little of the experience.

Chad and I got to the hospital at 5:30am. I was only dilated to 2cm and was so disappointed. My blood pressure was also pretty high, so they wanted to monitor me and the baby and make sure he was ok. Man, laying in bed with monitoring belts on was awful--I couldn't get up and deal with the contractions when they came. And every hour that went by got worse and worse, but I still kept progressing. At about 8am, I was at a 5 and they admitted me to a room.

Soon after I got to the room, I got an epidural. The needle going in was a little painful, but it was the best thing in the world to not have those horrible contractions anymore! So then we hung out for a while until about 1:30pm when I started to push. I didn't have to push too long--he popped out without the doctor even in the room and was born at 2:58pm! I tore quite a bit since his hand was right by his face when he came out. But I was so emotional and numb from the epidural that I didn't really care. Now, I'm hurting like crazy!

We named him Cameron Dean Shorter and he was 8 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. Chad and I bawled when he came out and think he's the greatest thing we've ever seen. We love him so much!

Congratulations!!
I was so excited to hear that he was finally here! I'm sure I've only felt a tiny tiny ounce of your anticipation, but it's been fun waiting for him with you! Now you have to change the subtitle under your blog title!

He's so cute. I can't believe he's here. He's so little too. I love it! And I know about the bawling once he's here part... we did it 3 times. Love you and hope all goes well.

It looks like he's got a little something on his forehead in the second picture, did he get shot in the wart? We're glad to see more pictures than just one of each end. We are excited for y'all and hope the adjustment is quick. Take care. We love you.
